چکیده
Abstract Background There are many studies on disentangling the responses of autotrophic (AR) and heterotrophic (HR) respiration components soil (SR) to long-term drought, but few have focused mechanisms underlying its responses. Methods To explore impact prolonged drought AR HR, we conducted 2-year measurements CO 2 effluxes in 7th 8th year manipulated throughfall reduction (TFR) a warm-temperate oak forest. Results Our results showed TFR decreased which was positively related bacterial richness. More importantly, some taxa such as Novosphingobium norank Acidimicrobiia , fungal Leptobacillium were identified major drivers HR. In contrast, increased due fine root biomass production. The accompanied by HR appeared counteract each other, subsequently resulted unchanged SR under TFR. Conclusions study shows that respond opposite directions Soil microorganisms roots account for respective divergent This highlights contrasting should be taken into when predicting future droughts.

Contrasting responses of heterotrophic and autotrophic respiration to experimental warming in a winter annual-dominated prairie.
Understanding how soil respiration (Rs) and its source components respond to climate warming is crucial to improve model prediction of climate-carbon (C) feedback. We conducted a manipulation experiment by warming and clipping in a prairie dominated by invasive winter annual Bromus japonicas in Southern Great Plains, USA. Infrared radiators were used to simulate climate warming by 3 °C and clip...

15 صفحه اولEffects of Forest Age on Soil Autotrophic and Heterotrophic Respiration Differ between Evergreen and Deciduous Forests
We examined the effects of forest stand age on soil respiration (SR) including the heterotrophic respiration (HR) and autotrophic respiration (AR) of two forest types. We measured soil respiration and partitioned the HR and AR components across three age classes ~15, ~25, and ~35-year-old Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica (Mongolia pine) and Larix principis-rupprechtii (larch) in a forest-steppe ...

Improved understanding of the links between aboveground production and allocation of photosynthate to belowground processes and the temporal variation in those links is needed to interpret observations of belowground carbon cycling processes. Here, we show that combining a trenching manipulation with high-frequency soil respiration measurements in a temperate hardwood forest permitted identific...
